One thing I have an easy time growing is green beans. 7-13greenbean.jpg (35653 bytes)

gardendoor.jpg (49500 bytes) One thing my garden was missing was a good garden door.

We had been using a large screen as the door, but it wasn't connected to the fence.

The deer kept knocking it over and getting into the garden last year.

So my husband finally built a new wooden frame door, with small chicken wire over the opening.  It is nice and sturdy and should hold up for a number of years.

Another improvement we made to the garden this year, was to raise the height of the fence.  We had been using rolled fence wire, and just put a second section on top of the existing fence.

Now it is around six feet high and hopefully will stop the deer from jumping over it as easily - like they were doing when it was only three feet high.

My garden.

The black pipes are my fence posts.

Another view of my garden, and the large black walnut tree that shades it.  To give you an idea of how big it is, the black pipes are about seven foot high in the center of the garden.
