Hi, my name is Jolene. I am nine years old and I am a member of 4-H.
My mom is helping me keep track of my 4-H projects with this web site.
This is Page three of my Online Journal.

I started on my Gingerbread House today. I am entering it in the Westmoreland County Fair.

We baked all of the pieces of the gingerbread house today, and even had a little bit of dough left over. Pictured above are only the two of the walls. It is going to be a two story house.
I am thinking of making a gingerbread man to put in front of the house with the remaining dough. Mom put all the pieces in a Tupperware container with wax paper between each piece, so that my cat or dog don't eat them. I am going to put the pieces together next weekend. And then I will have to decorate it.

It has almost been a week since I started my plant experiment. Here is a picture of the results.

The one I didn't water at all is dead (on the left). The one with petroleum jelly on it looks gross (on the right). The other two look good. yet. But when I took the paper off the one - some of the leaves were yellow.

I don't think my strawflowers that I planted in my container are going to bloom in time for the fair.

The strawflowers in the other bed I planted also look the same - no blooms yet. But the snapdragons, zinnias and petunias are looking good. Some of the marigolds are blooming, but not all of them yet. Hopefully enough of the same color will be blooming when it comes time to cut the flowers for the fair.

I am not sure when I should cut my sunflower for the fair. Or how long a stem it needs to have.

Update: Should have cut it when mom took this picture - because two days later the birds or another animal ate all the sunflower seeds. So now I can't enter it in the fair.
